How we measure change

Who we are

  1. Established by Royal Decree. Our Board of Trustees is chaired by HRH Princess Basma bint Talal.

  2. We work through fifty local centres, each run by people from the community it serves.

  3. We don’t run projects in communities. We stay, and we build what lasts.

We start by listening. Each centre works side by side with its community, so priorities come from the people who live there. Here is what you’ll find at a Johud centre:

Principle 1 of 4

Community

Take part. Join a committee, start an initiative or volunteer where you live.

Principle 2 of 4

Knowledge

Learn, and share what you know. Training, research, and a place where what people know about their own town counts.

Principle 3 of 4

Support

Find help. Someone to talk to, help with a problem, and a way to the right service. For many families, the centre is still the first door they knock on.

Principle 4 of 4

Opportunity

Build a livelihood. Skills, small business and markets – and partners who open the way to them.

Johud Development Centres network

Close to people, everywhere

For five decades, Johud has worked in every governorate of Jordan. Our centres are run by people who know the place and the people in it.

Ajloun’s green hills, forests and heritage sites shape everything here. Our centres help protect the forests, help farmers improve and sell what they grow, and train young people and women in photography and guiding, opening the door to community-based tourism.

Our Ecosystem

An ecosystem we are part of

No single organisation owns development in Jordan. It happens through a web of relationships – community committees and volunteers, public and private sectors, schools and health centres, civil society, researchers and donors.

Closing invitation

Our doors are open to everyone. Volunteer, partner with us, donate – or just drop in to your nearest centre.
