Her Royal Highness Princess Basma bint Talal, Chair of the Higher Committee of The Goodwill Campaign, handed over the assistance provided by the campaign as part of its Ramadan activities to the targeted groups in the Jabal Al-Nasr area of the capital, Amman, today, Tuesday.
At the headquarters of the Prince Al-Hassan Camp Services Committee in the area, which was built through a royal benefaction, Her Royal Highness delivered support allocated by the campaign to five women to develop their productive projects, and support for 10 university students studying specialisations aligned with labour market needs.
At the Ya’rub Development Charity Association, Her Royal Highness delivered support provided by the campaign to equip the association’s productive kitchen with equipment and supplies to develop the kitchen affiliated with the association, which provides job opportunities for four women, enabling the kitchen to expand its services and increase its revenues to help fund the development programmes implemented by the association for the targeted groups.
The campaign also provided supplies for iftar meals that the kitchen will prepare and distribute to 100 families in the Naser Camp area.
During the handover of the assistance, Her Royal Highness commended the women who run home-based productive projects and their determination to face challenges through entrepreneurial ideas that benefit their families and the local community, in the presence of the Mutasarrif of Marka District, Ahmad Al-Zaboun, the Chair of the Prince Al-Hassan Camp Committee, Ziyad Salman, and the Chair of the Ya’rub Charity Association, Jalal Salman. Her Royal Highness affirmed the campaign’s interest in supporting its partners by providing opportunities for success and sustainability for this type of project, and in equipping women with the skills needed to manage these projects and market their products, contributing to driving economic and social development.
Her Royal Highness said that the efforts led by The Goodwill Campaign and its partners come within the framework of the campaign’s keenness to reinforce and deepen the meanings of solidarity and social cohesion, and to provide opportunities for success and sustainability for entrepreneurial productive projects, especially those run by women, stemming from the campaign’s appreciation of the role of women and their mission in society and in the development process.
In turn, the Chair of the Prince Al-Hassan Camp Committee, Ziyad Salman, spoke about the committee’s activities through the Zakat committees.
Salman affirmed the pride of camp residents in Jordan in the Kingdom’s efforts to support the steadfastness of the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank and to defend their cause, including His Majesty’s emphasis on the importance of the role played by the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), and defending its continued existence and objectives.
Salman praised the initiative of The Goodwill Campaign, in cooperation with the Prince Al-Hassan Camp Committee, in a manner that serves national development objectives, contributes to reducing poverty and unemployment, and strengthens development opportunities.
For his part, the Chair of the Ya’rub Development Charity Association, Jalal Salman, presented the association’s objectives, which include creating a safe environment for the camp’s children, providing psychosocial support and case management services, and enhancing the personal and cognitive capacities of children and adolescents, in accordance with purposeful educational programmes.
