JOHUD and the British Council Sign Agreement to Empower Jordanian Youth through the “Youth Connections” Project
The Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD) and the British Council signed an agreement on Monday under the Youth Connections Project, aimed at empowering Jordanian youth, enhancing their engagement in society, and equipping them with essential skills.
The agreement was signed by Farah Daghistani, Executive Director of JOHUD, and Alexander Lambert, Director of the British Council for Jordan and the Levant.
As one of the British Council’s key initiatives, the project seeks to enable young people to take on leadership roles within their communities, encouraging them to develop creative solutions to pressing local issues and engage with decision-makers and stakeholders in a collaborative and participatory manner.
The initiative will target 90 young men and women at Princess Basma Development Centres in Tafileh and Ma’an, through specialised training sessions in communication, capacity building, and leadership development.
Farah Daghistani highlighted that this partnership with the British Council adds to JOHUD’s long-standing collaborations with various local institutions, working towards national goals that enhance the roles of youth and women in society. She emphasised that such initiatives contribute to comprehensive and sustainable development, supporting Jordan’s ongoing progress.
Meanwhile, Alexander Lambert described the project as a new milestone in the long-standing partnership with JOHUD. He affirmed that the initiative aligns with the shared commitment of both organisations to youth empowerment, in line with Jordan’s national priorities for youth development and engagement.
Lambert also expressed the British Council’s appreciation for JOHUD’s role in human development, particularly in empowering women and young people. He underscored the council’s keen interest in this new phase of partnership, which aims to meet the aspirations of young people and strengthen their role in public life.
During the signing ceremony, Zeina Al-Karaki, Learning and Educational Care Coordinator at JOHUD and Manager of Mabarrat Um Al Hussein, provided an overview of JOHUD’s contributions to Jordan’s development efforts. She reaffirmed JOHUD’s commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and impactful solutions through its various programmes and initiatives, aiming to address challenges and drive meaningful change.
The British Council delegation also had the opportunity to learn about several initiatives run by JOHUD’s extensive network of 52 development centres across the country, witnessing their positive impact on youth and targeted communities.
